Wow, Hattie! I've come across this idea before . . . and the concept immediately eluded me since it seems so odd using vinegar on strawberries :p. I guess I can try it - there's a nice malt vinegar on a lower shelf, maybe that would be a good enough choice.

Balsamic vinegar, I'd imagine, varies widely in taste and quality. I'm not even a novice on the subject.

(nebulizer? I thought that was what my then toddler/preschooler/kindergartner required to control her asthma. In the kitchen, nebulizer = spray bottle . . . ? :/)

DesertGirl in Albuquerque may be drawn to respond to this . . . given the title ;))

:frow Steve,

I'm afraid this is the rap over the knuckles........ ;) :gig ........!! NO SUBSTITUTIONS, NO, NO, NO malt vinegar! :barnie Good Balsamic vinegar is unbelievably good. It's aged in barrels for twenty (or more) years. The kind you buy from the supermarkets isn't first quality I'm afraid. I suspect you could just get away with a very good sherry vinegar but I have never tried it.

You must try it one day -- you might surprise yourself & actually LIKE IT... :celebrate

Happy tasting. ;) ;) ;) :frow

Hi Hattie!! :frow

I just made the strawberry and balsamic vinegar "salad" for a bbq this afternoon. I made a small one for me (because I'm not supposed to mix the ingrediants until almost ready to eat) and it was fantastic!! I came here to check the recipe again and came across the other one with the basil added. I'm out of basil, but I think I am going to try mint instead.

Thanks for posting this. I think instead of a nebulizer you can use a small dollar store spray bottle. (Or just toss in and drain off the balsamic (save it for another salad) like I did.)

:thumbsup

Hi there :frow

I have a real weakness for LEMON flavoured deserts so when I found this one I was in heaven. I happened to have a little LIMONCELLO left at the bottom of a bottle so I tried it using my own eggs, of course! :D I only made a half of this recipe.

WOW!! is all I can say -- You HAVE to try it! :love :love :love

A friend told me his parents in Italy make their own LIMONCELLO so that's another project for me to try. If I find a recipe I'll post it for you.

******[ed: FOUND TWO RECIPES. They are in a separate topic called "LIMONCELLO".]*******

Hi there!:frow

How about a Nectarine & Cardamom pie?

http://www.larecettedujour.org/

Sounds wonderful to me as I love nectarines. Unfortunately they don't really grow here & they are usually hard when you buy them so you have to cook them. This recipe will be great.

Hi there! :frow

I thought I would post a recipe for Tiramisu (in Italian this means"pick me up"), a wonderful Italian confection which is SO EASY to make! You don't have to make it boozy BUT I do ( I often use one of my home-made fruit liqueurs.

I then came across this page which has a great authentic Italian recipe plus links to a mass of other variations. I hope you enjoy them & have a wonderful weekend!
