Green Juniper Bell Peppers

After talking about hot peppers, I looked through my seeds and did find some Serrano pepper seed from 1910 and started that. I have not made it to the store yet. I remember these plants did not grow very well and I did not get any peppers, but I take the blame and the weather, but I thought about my can of 1997 seeds and went to look to see if I had any hot peppers and no, but I found bell peppers with the name Green Juniper. I did start some of these I think in 2009 or so and they sprouted. I want to see if they will come up this year and keep track of them and see how they produce. I have looked and looked and cannot find anything about Green Juniper bell peppers. Is there such a thing?

You might have the last packet of Green Juniper seeds in existence. Wow. What a heavy responsibility. Start sweating and worrying. What potting soil to use? Start indoors or direct seed in the garden? Plant in the open garden or in a protected spot dedicated to Green Juniper bell peppers? Stay up all night with a flashlight on cut worm patrol? Tie toothpicks to the tiny stems to ward off cut worms? Spread DE around the seedlings to deter slugs? Examine every leaf for aphids?

I've never heard of the green juniper peppers either, but sometimes they change the name from year to year. Should be a fun experiment. If the pressure doesnt get to you from being the sole caretaker of those endangered species!

The pressure must already have gotten to me. I meant 2010 seed for the serrano. That would be something if I had planted them in 1910 The Jupiter are 1997 though and I do feel the pressure of it all.

If they were from 1910 they probably would have turned to dust by now!

I do vaguely remember the name, but can't remember where I saw them. Well, time to do a big web search.

I suspect Juniper in the name was thrown in as creative marketing. Then again if you cross a couple different bells then you get to name it whatever you want to, unless someone comes along with a valid trademark or patent dispute.
