Grooming A Great Pyrenees

LOL, I have witnessed this at my Sister's (At one time they had THREE GPs living in the house! ) I once heard that you should chew gum when you groom so you can just spit hair and gum out when done. (Yucky thought) :sick thanks for the laugh. And I love the photo of Paris with your DH. She looks like a love when not guarding!
 
@canesisters and @Carol Dee thanks, that is one of my favorite pictures of her and DH. She loves me, but my husband is the light of her life!

Paris was given to us when she was 10 months old because she killed chickens. It took me 2 years, but now she is the chicken guard supreme!
 
All any dog wants is a job to do. It's our job to help them understand what it is.
 
Grooming a BHD (Big Hairy Dog, aka: GP, Husky, Mal, etc.)

1. As dog is lead in to be groomed, lean back slightly as if a tsunami is about to hit you. A small squeak of surprise and horror is acceptable.
2. Find out you are the one grooming the dog, and with a grumpy sigh, trundle it to the grooming area.
3. Apply surgeon's mask and safety glasses. (I'm currently shopping for a welder's mask.)
4. Turn High Velocity Dryer on and turn the entire grooming area into a snow storm of hair. Blow all the coat out of the dog at once in a shocking and spectacular display of hair.
5. Remove glasses and facemask, use blow dryer on self to remove hair making you look like abominable snow man.
6. Bathe dog, using super fantastic deshedding shampoo and conditioner.
7. Dry again, issuing another snow storm.
8. Brush dog for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stripping the last of the hair off. Trim the nails, clean the ears, shave the paw pads, spray with perfume, and tie bandana on.
9. Get call back next day complaining the dog is still shedding.
10. Smack head and swear you will never groom another BHD... (till the next one anyway.)
 
I had a client who would bring in her 2 newfies every Fri, They slept in bed with her so they had to be clean. At a $125 a dog she spent $1,000 a month having her dogs hair done, thats having real money. I had a littler of King Charles Cavalier puppies in my office,she would sit on the floor playing with the puppies. One morning when she dropped off her dogs, she asked if anyone bought the male with the spot on top of head. When I said not yet, she told me she couldn't stop thinking about him and would like him. She was going to take him home when she pick up her dogs in the afternoon. She was so happy when she came back, she had called her mother to tell her about the puppy. Her mother said her family always had Cavaliers . She said to me " I am a princess we have always had Cavaliers" I said your no princess i've seen you roll around the floor covered in hair, the princess that come in here willn't even put the dog in their car, they might break a nail ! Her reply was no I am a real princess I am Royalty. She has gotten 4 cavaliers from me over the years. I guess I could claim breeder to the royal family lol.
 
Just goes to show you, you meet all kinds of people..... Cool story about the princess.
