Definitely haven't been brushing her for two hours! It's more like 10 minutes every evening. Her coat hasn't developed any mats yet, but when she starts blowing her puppy coat that will probably change.

She's not going to be in a show ring, I just want to keep her from matting and getting dingy. I have both of those styles, but will get a newer version of the pin brush next time I'm in town.

I'd love to see the two you have in your kennel!

Two hours! Yikes....makes my arm cringe.

"Would ya look at that! There really WAS enough loose hair on Gilligan to make another dog!"

Sounds like Thistlebloom will need a couple of quiet hours  and a bottle of fine wine :drool each week.

Wait! That's per dog. Two bottles of fine wine :celebrateper week with the dogs.

:love Hubby extra.:love

Wren is a wash~n~wear kind of dog, fortunately, so 10 minutes really is adequate for her. Larka loves her brushing time so I may be able to go two hours on her. Although I'm not sure where that time and energy will come from when my work schedule does it's seasonal craziness.

I have a " sheep card " that looks almost just like this one . Has more wires that are also slighty cured at the ends ... used to fit sheep wool for shows. Wonder how it would work on long haired dogs ?

I've used a sheep carder on our show lambs when I was in 4H. The carders are larger with longer and stiffer bristles than a slicker brush. And of course you use a lifting action with the carder rather than a brushing motion. I don't think it would work too well on hair as opposed to wool.
