I concur to use 5 gallon bags. I used to grow them for my preschoolers in those black nursery tree containers. I think people say they are 15 gallon but I think they're a little smaller. I found that if I amended the soil well that i got bigger ones. I planted one potato cut up into 5 pieces with eyes in each container. Or 5 whole potatoes if they were small ones.

@the1honeycomb had quite a potato gardening technique. She grew them in the ground the following year and was disappointed.
