Sorry to hear you dented your car up. Glad you were unhurt though. We have tons of deer in this neck of the woods also. Have not hit one for several years now. About a week ago I had to brake hard when a bull elk ran in front of pickup truck, don't want to tangle with one of those anytime.

@Collector yes, you're lucky, i wouldn't want to tangle with one of those either... when i lived up north there was an article in the paper with pictures of someone who hit a moose (with a truck). not pretty...

walking sounds better and better all the time, but funny enough a friend of ours told me a few weeks ago that she almost got ran over by a deer when she was out for a walk. odds are it will happen to someone, but i sure don't envy the person who's ticket gets punched that way.

A friend of my son was riding his ATV (full speed of course) at night when he hit a deer head on! It split his helmet in 1/2 (thank goodness he was wearing it) He was airlifted to Iowa City and found to be O.K. ! Amazing. Got a big scalp on his head. Lots of bumps and scraps. No broken bones , no internal damage! Someone was watching over him .

my brother hit a deer with his motorocycle at about 60mph, the deer did not survive. he came away with some bumps, bruises, and a lot of road rash. the girl on the back wasn't wearing a full helmet and had a lot of damage to her face/nose (scraped it right off). none of us kids escaped motorcycles without paying for it. i broke my shoulder blade... i won't be getting back on one again.

When I was about 15, a motorcyclist drove his bike at a very high speed around the corner from our house. his bike skid on the pavement and hit the curb , He flew over the handle bars when the brake handle whent between his legs..... He sang saprano perminantly from then on. That cured me from even thinking of riding on a motorcycle much less owning one.

@bobm when i went over the handlebars when i wiped out i snagged my left toe and that twisted my knee pretty good and ever since then it has always been a slight bother at times.

the really funny thing is that i was going to ditch the bike and had just slowed down enough to jump off and right before i could my front tire dug into some sand on the side of the road and it twisted and threw me over the handle bars and i hit the really hard compacted gravel on the edge of the pavement (with my head, neck, shoulder)...

when I was about 10 my dad bought me a dirt bike. For some reason only known to my older brother he disconnected the brakes and never told me. Living in city I had to push bike to park where I could ride it. My friends with there bikes where already there on other side of park. I jumped on mine started and gunned the gas. Dont think I was ever has afraid as when I realized I couldn't slow down or stop. I ended up in ER and never got on a motorbike again.
