I no longer use traps for JB. I think I was just inviting them to my property. If you're not sure that you have the larvae in your lawn-do you get a lot of skunks and moles? They both eat the larvae. The skunks leave a round nose size whorl in the lawn. The moles tunnel up the lawn.

Those Japanese Beetle traps only work if there is a mass trapping meaning if you live in a neighborhood then EVERYONE in the neighborhood must use them in order for the traps to work. If you are the only one in the neighborhood using them then you are going to attract more Japanese Beetles to your yard than what it is worth.

Milky Spore/ Milky Spore Disease works well but it takes 2 to 3 years for it to work properly and have its full affect on the grubs.

In my yard I use either Bayer Advanced and in the garden I use Sevin Dust then I hit everything with a good fertilizer that is high in Phosphate and Potassium, I like Jacks (9-45-15) liquid fertilizer (Peters).

Here is to links on grubs.

A friend of mine claimed she had instant results with milky spore. Not sure I believe that. No one using organic methods would ever use Sevin though I'm sure you get instant results. Sevin kills earthworms along with the cubs. I would choose the earthworms any day.

Real studies showed those Jap beetle bait bags attract more to the area than caught...so just give some to your neighbors. My neighbor cuts his lawn super short - I call it scalped - and has such a grub problem I stopped free ranging my hens 'cause they all bee lined over there to dig up grubs. Now, I only find grubs in the garden where the Bermuda grass and other grasses have gotten a hold. Used to be I'd dig with one hen in attendance, jumping in the holes to grab them. Silly birds.

can you tell i'm just sitting around drinking too much coffee today????
