My nephew has this growing in the back yard of the house he just bought in Dallas. I don't know if it came from roots, is from a seed, or is a transplant. My guess has been rejected so Ill throw it out here for comments. What do you think it is?

Well gee Ridgerunner, you could have said what your rejected guess was...

My first thought was sunflower. Are you gonna give a prize to the winner? :p

I didn''t want to influence the guesses, but mine was also sunflower. My wife did not think so but had no guesses of her own.

Thistlebloom, your prize is knowing you guessed first and everyone else agreed with you. But if you want some French marigold seed, let me know.

Ha! :D That's kind of like "Virtue is it's own reward" but different...but I would love some french marigold seeds too!

Wait until it makes a Hibiscus looking flower.
As in Moschuetos hibiscus Marshall? They are very similar, but I think the hibiscus leaves have a more serrated edge.

If this sunflower does miraculously produce hibiscus flowers do I have to give my prize back?
