Mangos were saving Haiti's mountainsides ..this tree was helping the people get back on thier feet

we always hear the sad stories but we have to remember these very resiliant people have made some serious progress over the past decade ..new "healthier" government and mangos were helping to bring back people and the economy ...the coffee was coming back ....there was an agricultural bright light ..is that all gone?

4 hurricanes in two weeks two years ago ..now this ?

Haiti needs us now more than ever

(PSA if you can not give money give blood to the Red Cross)

they are still pulling bodies out and just surviving but down the road there may be efforts to help restore the agriculture as well

omg I am exhausted from feeling so helpless in all of this ..

I have to remember there is always the immediate and then the long term ..I do what I can not and then later do more

Adequate protein always seems to be a serious issue with malnourishment. How the people can deal with that when simply getting enough calories has to be an overriding concern is a tough nut to crack . . .

Cash crops like coffee become a 2-edged sword. The people can't eat it - coffee has to be sold :/. Hopefully, it will command an adequate price from year to year and middle men don't claim too much of the value. And, there must be food that can be purchased.

It is quite a dilemma . . .
