I wonder how the selections were made. In Calling the Red, all 8 of the most recent Democratic presidents are represented with Andrew Jackson from the 19th century. In Calling the Blue, Abraham Lincoln represents the 19th century but Hoover, Coolidge, Harding, and Taft are left out of the most recent Republican presidents while Theodore Roosevelt is included to show one less individual than Calling the Red. I wonder if we can read anything into selection ...
