Hi Don

You couldn't have possible been looking at my garden :) . I have a very long way to go before I get to growing vegetables. I only have seeds here. There's has been a lot of hold ups with my garden.

We have a lot of keen growers in here, so i will be able to get some good guidance for when i get started plus there is vast amount garden information going back years in this site.

I do love the upper specially above Hancock MI
We are blessed I grow anything I can I bough another place so starting the garden over. Squash, tomatoes, chayote squash and some herbs. Next year hope might do a particle Ruth Stout garden since I'll still be building some raise beds. Of course got to have some chickens..

i lived in H-H for 15 years and fished every stream i could walk up above the canal. :) it is a long ways from where i am now so it isn't often i can visit up there again, but once in a while we try to get away.

i enjoy everything i can get done and grow. we keep about an acre of gardens and decorations here so as soon as the weather lets us get outside i can keep as busy as i want to be.

hope you have fun getting the new place set up how you want it. :)

I'm from Lone Star, TX from the Lone Star state living across the road from Lake O' Pines.
Thanks for letting me in... Boy y'all's in trouble now lol

UPDATED: I traveled for 9 years and recently bought another place across the street from Lake O' Pines in Lone Star TX so I'm pretty much starting over. I like raised bed as a rule 4X8 feet and tall enough I can set on of course. So to start this season I'll be doing some of those plastic barrels cut in half like big flower pots which I've never done before a new learning curve.. I like growing some of it all really, I do have some chayote squash I've never grown I'M excited about those there coming up really good. I'll do some other squash like zucchini or straight necks, some of those English cucumber, then I bought some atomic tomatoes, black beauties tomatoes, some tiny tims and a normal looking red one beef steak. I lean towards the heirloom variety veggies myself but some times I see something new and I'll try it. Most years I always like trying a few new stuff that I might see in one of those I call'em seed porn catalogs lol. To me they are hard to not want to buy a bunch more seeds than I need my eyes are bigger than my garden so to say.. Also to help get the garden going I might try Ruth Stout been watching some youtub.
Well hope I didn't put y'all to sleep and I got a chicken pen but no chickens yet think old English game silver duck wings..
Y'all have a great evening. Just Don

I think @flowerbug was talking about Happy Hour.

Steve
Hancock, MI is right across the canal from Houghton, MI. often they are smushed together when mentioned, though they are quite different small cities. i lived mostly in Houghton while i was up there, but for a few years i lived at the far and very uphill end of Hancock. it could be a very long walk in the middle of winter, but it usually did me some good. :) i eventually moved back to Houghton though when an attic became available.
