Just discovered this site after doing some research over at backyardchickens.com

We're new to gardening and are learning a lot along the way. Most recently I learned exactly what frost can do to a garden lol!

Looking forward to meeting more high desert gardeners!

With the title of your post, I don't think you will have to wait long to meet "CheerioLounge" there in your hometown.

There are some others from . . . maybe, a little higher in California. All should be around before too long. You should just find reason to bump this up to the top over the next few - busy - days as these folks have a moment to sit down and think about gardening.

Welcome to TEG, Bzbrown :frow!

Welcome to this site, Bzbrown. I've heard of your town but can't quite place it. Are you near Hesparia? I have an aunt that lives there. She has a hard time gardening in that climate.

You will find lots of nice people here!

Winter is one of the best times to grow things in the desert.

Attempting to grow things in the Desert.
And, I have the water bills to prove it
Hi rebbetzin! That is my biggest issue with trying to grow anything here!! I need to find veggies that grow well with minimal water. Any suggestions?

Doesn't that Rebbetzin have the cutest smilies  ?!!

I don't know where she got that one (or, where she's hiding it ;) ) but if you want to -- you can click my 2 and it will take you to a Texas A&M webpage. Then, scroll down to Table IV-1. Relative Vegetable Water Needs:

Not only did I hi-jack the question but, those 2 . . . I stole 'em from Rebbetzin!!

:p Steve :D
