Because of work being busy I have spent little time at country home this summer. last time up I was noticing a problem,I chose to ignore hoping it would go away. Well last night, obvious it is getting worse. Several different trees and shrubs are having same problem the tips of leaves turning black. The sprinklers are set for 1 hour every other day. I am not around so don't know if that is happening. Was getting dark when I tried to take these photos.

As assumption - marginal necrosis of leaves. Non-communicable diseases, most commonly associated with adverse weather conditions, such as drought, waterlogging...

I think so too, drought stress. I had that happen with a young apple tree once that I didn't water enough starting out. All the leaves eventually fell off and grew back the next year.

An hour every other day on clay soil is quite a bit it seems to me, but I have never gardened on clay.

Overwatering can cause the same symptoms as underwatering. In your case the leaves aren't faded out like I see in droughty plants, but the green parts look glossy. The burning at the tips often is a sign of the leaf excreting excess salts or minerals.

Though you are in a drought the plants may still be getting too much tap water, which would contain chlorine and other minerals that rain water would lack.

I'm just offering a guess though.

Look at the manual. You should be able to run it on the "manual" setting just to see if all the heads are operating without messing up the watering schedule.
