I have a 12 foot tall, old wisteria. It is a dwarf form and has kept that size. Sprouts from the roots have become a nuisance and difficult to control. They seem to be inclined to be tall, though I cut them back. I have seen wisteria growing 40-50 feet into a tree. If you don't mind this that is fine. However if the original is some special cultivar you may find the root stock to be something else.
