Marshall, I think that it will be money well spent. Think of how much joy it will bring you being on here! It's got to be good for the soul!

I wished I had known you were coming to the bay area, I could have met you somewhere or you could have come over . How often do you get out here? I'll keep the trip in mind but it sounds like it's pretty far.

Monty, my computer problem is far worse than you can imagine. For example, the proxy server I was using a minute ago has already also been blocked. I am now on another one. Luckily there are actually about a million proxy servers out there.

My particular problem has stumped even Microsoft's senior technician.

The one silver lining here is that there can now be found some new definitions, whatever that means. (Wow, this proxy flashes quick invisible pages on my monitor).

New computer on monday, oh, maybe tuesday, and if it continues on that one I will also get a new satellite server.

The blocking is very well hidden Monty. I believe it is camouflaged or disguised. The certificating authorities have caught camo and disguised code before though, and fast, so this is probably an embedded code. Being as how it found the first proxy, and the info from that are also important clues that I am sending to microsoft. Microsoft does not seem very happy. Usually they define within a day. I think define is some tech term for figuring out the problem.

Marshall, on 2nd proxy server
OK, just trying to help :) I don't only garden, but I also used to build high performance, overclocked gaming machines. I still have a lot of friends in the "business". Most of which could run circles around any Microsux tech. As a last ditch effort to assist, you could always run the restore disk that came with your machine. It would clear any malicious code embedded on the HD. I'll humbly bow out now.

You are so proud of your parents , Marshall, and you should be. No wonder you often sound like a professor. I don't quite understand all of you talk about blockers. We have found, in regard to viruses and the like, Mac are less likely to get them as most are designed for PC's.

proxy server sites are very dangerous loaded with hackers malicious codes and virus , even Norton and mcafee anti-virus programs will not catch everyone of them till it's too late...

last week my computer got attacked and Norton dropped the ball, it hit my yahoo mail account and sent of a e-mail to everyone in my sent box, needless to say wrote down all contacts and deleted the account, now using g-mail.
ran Norton, yup found it and now removed.

last summer ordered some sturdy stakes from amazon, found the seller figured why not cut out the middleman and order direct, ok made a order the next day some fricking hacker opened up 2 accounts in our name and drained our checking account. we got our money back..... but still. sent a message to Norton about the web site and why did not it catch it, a day later Norton replied according to them once you hit the order button it took you a mirror site and they contacted the company and put a caution of this site in their virus updates.

it even had https in the address bar.

years ago we had MacAfee we got hit a couple times as well.

twice from Oregon on-line orders
once from texas

identity theft is rampant, the hackers are always 1 step ahead of the anti-virus company's.

now we have a prepaid debt card from walmart, so when we do order anything on-line it's not linked to our bank account.

morel of this if it looks too good, it is..... stick with the middleman.
that's my 2 cents worth....

so lucky

Wow. Just Wow to everything being said here. It hurts me to the core to realize what malicious and greedy people are out there. I live a very sheltered life--don't even have a facebook page. :/ My computer savvy could be held in a thimble.
However, Hey Marshall, so good to see you back, and I'm glad you are patching it up with Hayle. Having worked in the mental health field for a number of years, I am aware of what isolation, paranoia and helplessness can do to a strong capable person such as yourself.
I knew you must have a very educated background. Cheers to you! Hope that problem gets figured out soon!

You're exactly right on MajorCat!

oh! Welcome to our forum here! I see a few new persons here during the week I was gone.

I try to be careful about that identity theft!
One of my best protections from that is...
Why would anyone want to steal my credit???
I have no credit!!! Ha! I don't have a credit card either.

Thanky mayaam! 'bout all I know about computers these days is squat.

Neanderthal version is:

Since my computer is blind to www.theeasygarden.com and apparently to nothing else, there are websites that can look at what my computer is blind to, and do the send and receive for my computer.

I have to buy a new computer for the real fix. That'll be in a few days.
