We don't have a stoplight, but we do have lights flashing at the stop sign just out of town -- or more properly village -- where two highways intersect.

Dead-heading is a bit different for roses than for most flowers. To properly dead-head roses, you should cut the fading bloom down on the stem to the first set of five leaves (if possible). This will encourage re-flowering with bigger flowers.

Most dead-heading is done by simply cutting the flower head off.

If you don't dead-head roses, the plant will turn its energy toward developing hips and send a flowering inhibitor through the plant to stop flower production.

It's a great little town. I grew up in the suburbs, worked urban EMS for quite a while, moved to the country, and when this opportunity came up I leaped on it. I plan on running here for as long as they let me.

Thank you for the kind words I really appreciate it. Progress pics I promise!

Figured I should update everybody since I found this today

This bush is loaded with blooms! So is the other yellow one next to it. Both came roaring back.

This is one of the orange/pinks it's staging a strong comeback as well. I think the other orang/pink isn't going to make it though. The tiny leaves it had have vanished and I have yet to see any new growth. I'm bummed I lost one I'm still pleased 3 of 4 came back. I'm going to give it a while just in case but I think it's safe to say it's gone. I'm going to replace it just not sure when. I want to give it the best chance I can so will have to do more research on this.

HOWEVER.......I did find this little gem! It's about 3ft away front the yellow rose in bloom so wondering if it's a daughter from seed. I'm dying to know what color she is. Will be interesting I don't know if any of the current established roses are grafts or not so who knows what it will bloom. It's tough though regardless!!!

Went out to weed and saw it so thought to share. I'm very excited about it. It needs to be transplanted regardless so maybe I may move it or give it a good home at my place. We'll see where this goes & will keep things updated.
