I worked in the sun today for the most part, and left my hat hanging on the rack in the hall....boy did I miss it! I didn't do too badly really, fortunately dh dropped by and brought me a gallon of water which I nearly polished off before I was done.
But the REAL heat was in the parking lot of the grocery where I stopped non the way home! Yikes! It was blistering!
Home now, sitting in front of the fan, 79 inside, 94 outside the front door, eating a frozen drumstick. :)

Today was a pretty good day here in South-est, central-est Wisconsin. The temps didn't get much over 85 degrees with clear skies and a nice breeze. The humidity was rather low and I worked outside much of the day without much problem other than the heat of the fire we had going to burn our collection of brush.

I managed to get most of the smaller branches of the wood pile (in the once disputed area) cleaned up, hauled to the fire, and burned. The branches left are too big for me to handle and need either DS or a chain saw (or both) before I can get them burned.

Cooled down at the ice arena this evening while Gypsy skated. Strange to be wearing a jacket in July, but I was cool and cozy while I watched.

Hey @digitS' ! I just read on another thread where you mentioned another heat wave this week. Ack! I had to look to see what we'll be in for and was reminded of a question I've been meaning to pose. Not a question exactly I guess, but something that doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

I have Wunderground and Accuweather on my desktop for checking the weather and there is a huge difference between what the forecast is on the two of them.
My Wunderground setting is based in Spirit Lake (on a rooftop?) and Accuweather is a station in Sagle. There is often a 10 degree difference in the forecasted high.

For instance right now Wunderground says Wednesday will hit 105, and Accuweather says it will be 97. They both agree that Wed. will be the warmest day of the week. I am obviously choosing the Accuweather high (you can thank me later).

Do you have any idea why the huge disparity?

Sorry to bother you with this, but you know, you are the go-to weather guy for TEG.:)

You're in trouble if you are relying on me beyond 9/10 of a percent for weather info, @thistlebloom !

Off the top of my head, and through my hat, with no stops anywhere -- I'm guessing that wunderground is using the Spokane forecast and accuweather is using Sandpoint.

I'd say that counting Spirit Lake with Spokane's west plains is a mistake. There are a couple of 5,000 foot obstacles between.

Hot roof or hot asphalt or not, the Weather Service says 102°f at Felts Field but look, the forecast wasn't anywhere near this extreme just 24 or 48 hours ago ... I'm hoping dreams and schemes and clouds will get in the way of all those sunbeams, given another 24 or 48 hours.

Steve

I'm with you on the dreams and schemes and all the rest Steve, I like it around 80 - 85. Hot enough to sweat and the tomatoes like it, but not so hot that working outside is misery.
