Is it the temperature there??? This is our first time growing carrots in our garden. They are the rainbow ones. How do you know when they’re ready???

Welcome to TEG! I'm on the other side of the Smokies from you.

My experience with carrots, when you see them 'just' crowning, it's time to pull. Since I have a bad tendency of not thinning them when the germinate, I will pull some early after they've been growing a while, as though I were thinning them. It gives the other plants to grow a bit more.

Once a heavy stalk starts to form, they have become horse treats.
