Welcome Hennible. What kind of things can you grow in your area? It's hard for me to imagine a place with only 1 frost free day! Brrr....

Hi @Hennible :frow .

North Central BC! Wow, is that all the way up in the Caribou District?

My grandfather was Canadian, migrating from the eastern provinces to somewhere near Garibaldi Park. In later life, he lived near Hope.

That nice big hoop house must come in handy :).

I grow a bit of everything, I really do depend on my greenhouse... Squash, tomatoes, tomatillos, hot peppers, artichokes, corn, etc etc
Outdoors I can grow brassicas and other tough plants like kale, some potatoes... I have zone hardy apples and cherries, strawberries and raspberries. I wish I could grow year round, maybe someday.

Even in Wyoming, there are just a few communities with frost-free days only in single digitS'.

I'm concerned about my greenhouse and the plant starts in there, today. It's 93°f in there but 55° outdoors, that outdoors air is okay but there are wind gusts over 40mph! I'm afraid if I open it up any more, it will blow away!

Let's see ... I'll convert those real quickly to metric:

It's 34°C in the greenhouse, 13° outdoors with 65kph winds !!!

Hi Hennible, Good to see you. Glad to hear you have a greenhouse, like to see a picture when you have time. We are up in the Sierra range at 6800ft. and have similar growing conditions up here.

We, wifey and I, got married in British Columbia, in California and Queensland.

Look forward to seeing you around the the forum. Nice you came by.

Welcome! Welcome! You certainly face some growing challenges! I feel like I garden in the tropics, compared to your weather!

I'm zone 3. Nice and cold, to top it off I live in a "frost pit". Worst summer on record here had only 1 frost free day. What zone are you in so lucky?

Yesssssss! Someone with a colder, shorter growing season than me! Welcome to TEG :)
