This is what is depending on me tonight:

DSC00952.JPG

I'm not worried about the flower starts in the other hoop house or what is in the greenhouse with its great big, garage furnace. The snapdragons and such in the other hoop house can take a frost.

Down there by the blue box will be the little electric heater. The box is my work stool and it will be outta there :).

Behind the heater will be the fan. What I'll need to do is monitor things well enuf to know if I need to put 2 little heaters in the shed.

By the way, those marigolds - I can't remember how vulnerable marigolds are to real cold temperatures . . .

Thank you @PhilaGardener !

After one last blast of wind-whipped rain . .

. the sky has turned a hazy blue and the sun is setting. Oh my!

I know, I'll check underground.com . . . where? Have you noticed that the weather underground has lost a raft-full of volunteers since the weather channel has bought them.

Steve

AhHA! I just said to my husband yesterday "oh no! My wunderground is totally different today, its all fancy now and makes my internet browser crash on my old ipad! This sucks!" that explains why, total bummer!

Four o'clock and 44ºf in the hoop house. It's been that way since 1am and 41ºf when I got the heater and fan fired up. It is 33ºf at the nearest wunderground station, 35ºf at the nearest WS station, and entirely too many "f's" in the sentences above . . .

Steve
who has gotten entirely too much sleep in the lazyboy but will edit in the temps the next time he wakes up . . .

Edit: 6am, 47º in the hoop house and 39º at the nearest WS station. It has begun to rain and the air temperature warmed. No snow and there were no winds to 30mph!
The oscillating fan behind the little heater has done "yeoman" service! It must work the heater quite a bit but the placement of the heater thermostat is terribly inappropriate for what that space requires. I mean, so what if the thing heats the floor of the shed? The fan pushing air out results in cool air returning near the floor. Heater probably got less sleep than I did!
DW is rolling out dough for cinnamon buns!

Steve, have you received any snow?
It's been snowing here since 6ish...
not sticking to the concrete, just the grass and certain areas of the yard that aren't near trees. All my plants are back in the house heaving big sighs of relief that I didn't keep them out there permanently.

Nope.

It's actually dropped a degree to 38 and the wind picked up a little. I'm happy that the higher elevation is getting a little more snow but sorry that it is hitting you!

You must not be the Hoodoo weather station monitor Thistle'. I don't see that they have bothered to tell the underground about snow . . .

No mornings left in the immediate forecasts for lower than 37°F. With the performance of the "system" and that forecast, I feel like I'm home free! Slowly but surely, we will all get there :hugs.
