Thanks guys had a long talk with Kate who is buying farm . Funny I remember her as a kid ( parents clients over 30 years) She made me swear (I think I have to sign in blood) That I would not even THINK of buying a horse till I have been taking riding lessons for a year. Monday she closes, when she is all set up i will start taking lessons from her, she promised me she had horses that wouldn't be abuse if I rode.

Perfect! You better keep us updated with pictures!

This is just what I was going to say. You could lease a horse first but please take a lot of lessons first. How much time do you have for a horse? I f you bring one home and ride once a week it may be lonely and too hot for you for lack of exercise. A trail horse will get plenty of exercise and behave everytime you get on it. A friend of mine owns a stable. Most owners pay room and board for years and NEVER come to see their horse. And as a business owner you cannot afford to be laid up with a horse injury. As someone who sees a new horse almost weekly that I want to buy, I have a husband that reins in my animal hoarder inclinations.

Stay off of craig's list if you do buy a horse. Go to a reputable horse dealer who will find the perfect horse for you. It will cost you a bit more but it will be wort getting the right one.I'm sure you would never guess that horse traders lie. I still think you should go one trail rides and take lessons. I got my first horse at 25 from a neighbor horse trader. It was pretty and had 4 legs. His name was Skyrocket. Shouldn't that have been a clue?

Sage advice all around....and that is one beautiful horse for a good price, but a horse that is built for work. They actually LIKE to work, so not having any real work to do would be a sad thing for him. As with anything, it's always better if you have the right tools for the job and the right job for the kind of tools you possess.

Now, if you ever get the notion to turn your farm into a working farm, with all the work to be done by horse, this would be a great find!
