Thanks for all the info. My gram warned me about the wild running of it so I have been thinking of growing it in a old backhoe tire placed in the corner of the garden. Does that sound like it would be okay?

I would not say it is wildly invasive. Just putting it off in a corner should be sufficient. When I first planted mine, my soil was very hardpacked. Didn't develop well at all. When my soil was deeper, it worked our much better. Kind of like carrots- need to be able to grown down without too much trouble. Good luck!

It won't run all over the garden. It generally grows from a single crown till you dig it and leave bits of root behind, each of which will grow into a new plant. Even then the new ones are easily dug out if you don't want them there. I've never seen it produce seed.
