What would be a good choice of hot-weather beans and peas to grow around the Modesto, California area, Growing Zone #14/eight?

Here in zone 4- on the other side of the world, we grow peas only in the cool spring weather. This might end up being winter time for your zone?? I have not heard of a pea that would grow in hot weather. Beans-both bush and pole, seem to do fine in the hot summer months. Again, my "hot" is probably pretty cool compared to yours, but I think you should be able to grow beans- as long as you keep them watered.... Happy Gardening!

I'm between Zone 7b and 8a. My pea time has passed and all my peas have finished up.... except for snow peas, but I doubt they'll make it more then a week before they go bitter.
Beans love warm temps though, I grow green beans (pole) and black beans (turtle) for drying. Many of the beans won't germinate until soil temps are holding at 70 degrees. So now would be a great time for those. You may want to try late fall / early winter for any shelling peas or snow/snap peas in your area.

I'm in zone 8 and peas are a winter/early spring crop here, I plant them in January. We've had kind of a weird cold winter though, so mine are just now starting to really take off and make peas.
