With the onset of Summer, brings house flies. So. I purchased "Flying Insect Killer by EcoLogic" made with Lemon oil. For the first 2 sunny mornings in a row , I sprayed and the flies started to buzz and fall / fly onto the ground. I thought that this stuff works. But, every morning there is a hoard of flies on the front of our house again. On the third morning, I sprayed again ... low and behold, the flies dropped like before... but this time, I watched the flies that dropped to the sidewalk. After a few minutes, the flies shook off their struggles and flew back onto the front of our house none the worse for ware to soldier on as if nothing happened. GAAAAAAAAA !!! This stuff just DOESN'T WORK !!!!!

i'd wonder how the flies are getting in the house to begin with and get those gaps plugged up. we don't have flies in the house unless someone's let them in by leaving the door open.

The flies are sunning themselves on the FRONT of our house... they are NOT inside our house !!!

I admire you for trying to be ecologically friendly. And for thinking to check it out, not many people would do that. Now go get something that works.
Will do Ridgerunner before they start bringing their friends and relatives to sunbathe on the front of our house and before they start to invade the indoor spaces.

Now you got me going :)

I've been using a door net the past few years, that has kept the majority of flying pest's out.
Plus a few good people here have explained too me, too keep an eye on any indoor organic plant soil's.

I've made up a spray, that consists of lemon grass lavender and geranium rose oils, dropped onto a little amount of baking soda & a drop of white vinegar then I add warm water to mix before pouring into a spray bottle and filling up the rest of the bottle with water. Every time I wipe around they just leave.

The same ingredients is used for my flour wash with added salt plus 15 to 20 ml of peroxide. if ant's invade, s few drops of peppermint to each mix.

Hi Marie 2020 ... thank you for your version of an insect stray. It sounds that it only makes the insects LEAVE and go on to reproduce someplace else. I do NOT want them to return with their offspring, in-laws, out-laws, neighbors, and friends in tow. I want them DEAD NOW , never to return again, as I have much more important things to do ( like recover from a recent bout and stay in a hospital for 11 days from pnemonia that has still left me squite weak ) instead of playing host to pests !

@bobm . You've had a bad time, I hope you recover soon.

Going on past experiences, insecticides have proven too have caused problem's with breathing, if a variant amount of chemicals are built to "kill"these bugs they can't be too pleasant for humans, this is how I see it. This is the reason I feel comfortable with a more natural way, lavender & eucalyptus helps clear the air and bugs don't particularly like them.
Hope you find what you feel more at ease with.. Good luck :)
