How are Things in the Tomato Patch?

I have a few blushing!!!!

Blushing? Whatever did you say to them? Or perhaps you garden naked?

I told them that I run around the house naked, and then 6 tomatoes turned red overnight!! We ate them in our steak kabobs last night.

Just heard back from Baker Creek. They apologized and offered either replacement seeds or a refund. I told them to send me some Riesentraube cherry tomato seeds. Can't wait to try them next spring, but some have reported them growing good in pots. Maybe a greenhouse experiment is in order. Hummmmmmm

Harvested 10 so far. LOTS of green ones, and way too many healthy looking plants.
BTW, has anybody ever heard of pruning the stalk as it grows to only one, so it looks like a tree?

Posted this the other night, I've got me a white mater:

I have harvested a good 14-15 lbs of tomatoes so far with more coming in each day. Not bad at all this year. Won another battle against the blight this year.

I have no idea how many pounds worth of tomatoes I've picked so far. All I know is that I've been picking a half-dozen tennis ball sized (roughly) 'maters per day for the last week, and 2 or 3 a day for the week before that.

Anybody want to take a crack at the numbers? Mostly it's been Bonnie's Best, Mortgage Lifter and San Marzano varieties, but there have been more than a few Early Girl's and a couple Black Krim also.

We gave away 6 to the in-laws a couple days ago!

So all my varieties from Abundant acres got some disease and died but I had some tigerella and lime green salad seed from Bakers creek.

So about 6 weeks ago I sowed the seed and they were looking good till I planted them in the garden. So far all 6 of the tigerella died (it was flippin hot out side) but the lime green didn't. They are still out there.

I did get a few lime greens before the outbreak and they were very tasty. I can't explain it but they made a great salsa! I would grow these again. It is often difficult to find tomatoes that can handle some often harsh neglect!

I don't yet know what to think of the Tigerella, O.

The plants that are out there have loads of green fruit but only 1 watery, ugly thing has ripened. I can't help but think that they will get better, that eccentric 1 was like 2 weeks before any of the others.

I killed some of my Tigerella seedlings trying to slow down the growth by chilling the heck out of them back in May! They weren't the only ones to die from my kill-or-cure attempt but they showed themselves to be tender things.

It is good that you like the lime green salad tomatoes. Go with what appreciates your garden and work out from there. That's how I think, anyway .

The slicers have gone on hiatus, apparently. :/ I'm not sure why. They were going strong up until last week, and then have just...stopped. There are some green ones, but none are ripening. It's been good tomato weather - very hot. But maybe too dry. I watered for 45 minutes today, so hopefully that will get things started again. My paste tomatoes are still going strong, tho! I think I"m going to start canning diced tomatoes tomorrow.

We got some good maters off our container plants. Great slicers and are so good on the burgers
