When we started our small orchard a few years ago we had the black for the cross. But something (most likely deer) liked it also so it died.
We replaced the black this year. Maybe next year, even though the trees are quite small. I would love to see at least one cherry.
My hubby is a firm believer in Round-up also. Drives me beyond nuts.
I too have moved most of my canning supplies upstairs in anticipation of the upcomng harvest.
