I had a whole list to get done today, and then a plane came over, spraying pesticide on the field we live in. So DH said to stay inside for the rest of the day. Well, at least I got my peppers planted!
Well that blows Warmfuzzies! I guess that makes it nearly impossible for you to do organic gardening where you live huh?!
I meant to take pictures while I was out.... but we watered a few things like our new plantings... and then went and pulled like 10 lbs worth of weeds out of my blueberry bed. I desperately need to get a few more inches of mulch around those shoots.
Going to be putting the little one down for a nap and back to weeding. Maybe hubby will be so sweet and finally go get me my mulch today. Though our lawn mower broke and I think he wants to take it to get it fixed.
Warmfuzzies - that stink about the pesticide. I totally know how you feel. Around here we have blackberries like mad rampant weeds but I hesitate to eat them cause of the nightly bug truck. I hesitate I didn't say I never.
Steve - I lived in Bozeman, MT. It is located about 2 hours north of Yellowstone at 5000 ft. It is very different to garden here but I love it. I actually get two warm seasons here and the winter to garden. My down time in the heat of summer in July August. Or that I what I keep reading. I haven't actually been here long enough to know for sure.
Forgot to photo my 3tiered garden before. The ducks had eaten EVERYTHING I planted out there so I put in a fence... just a little one. I also planted some Ice plants and decorative grasses on the top 2 tiers. My iris's seemed fine on the sides... and then on the biggest part on the bottom I planted Watermelon to get some good eats out of it as well as it looking pretty.
However, you don't get to see the plants in the photo.... you get to see my daily visitor who was watching me, watching him. He let me get pretty close today.
Yeah blue Heron. He's a male and our pond is his breeding ground. I see him every morning out on the pond or under the willow.... he leaves to go south in the winter, but is here the rest of the year. Isn't he pretty? :happy_flower
vfem, that heron spells trouble for your pond, do you have any fish in there? if so those herons can wipe you clean. They can cause more damage than raccoons in ponds. I would be careful of that heron.
He's harmless Green.... we have a VERY large pond... he stays a couple hours and is gone. Those fish repopulate like crazy, enough for the ducks and him. (He's the only one... only saw a female with him once and she never returned.)
If only he ate the over population of turtles we have! JEEZ!!!
