We might try this... Spiced Pear Cardamom Butter.

The texture is grainy. They're not awful, they just don't taste like much of anything! Should be a good base to put all those spices in.

The squirrels seem to like them, and I think the deer are cleaning up what the squirrels drop. :)

Same kind of pears we have. Very grainy when young. They do acquire more of a taste when they yellow some. BUT, there is a fine line between yellowing and mush. You have to be careful.

I grind ours up with onions and peppers (sweet and hot) with sugar and vinegar and make "Pear Relish". We use it on top of pintos, field peas, crowder peas, and such.

I would still be interested in a recipe for canned pears for a sweet treat. With these kind of pears, you have to add lots of sugar, lol.
