Ok.. one more followup.. I did buy some additional rope from the local Joanne's store (I bought 5 yards) and ran it through the washing machine with some other laundry.. Doing that seems to help immensely with the wicking action.. After close to 2 days, the 'virgin' wick from the store had only gotten perhaps 1/2 cup of the vermiculite wet and that was about it.. I also ensured I left some spare wick to come up higher in the box to ensure the vermiculite at the top and bottom gets wet.. It seems to be working as one of the two boxes had sucked up water overnight easily..

Wow that is an exciting new adventure the so called duckponics but here i am scared will it get success or not because the plant will require only the nutrients but the duck will require the atmosphere too. So hope for the best.
