Often craigs list has ads for Japanese maple, not only are trees priced in thousands but they want you to dig up tree, moved, fill in hole. Do these trees sell I have emailed sellers a few time never got reply

Adult Japanese Maple for sale at $4,850 if you dig, transport and plant the tree yourself. Will sell for $18,200 if I have to dig and transport the tree. The tree roots can be safely cut when the tree is in its dormancy period (after all the leaves fall). An adult tree of this size usually sells for more money, but I do not want to spend the time digging and renting equipment to move this tree.

Only a pro with a tree digger could successfully dig that plant. And at great risk of killing the tree.

I once tried selling one that was about 5' beautiful and healthy in a pot for $45. No buyers so ended up keeping it.

Such plants are very costly. You will add $50.00 (the cost of growing the tree annually) by 18 (the age of the damaged tree) = $900.00 cost of replacing the tree. Next, calculate the cost-benefit for the landscape. Interested, but not enough funds.

Pretty expensive, But if someone will give me a chance to cultivate that here in the Philippines. I will surely do it.

Is there a possibility to send that here in the Philippines? I would like to plant that here in our gardens.

I saw a program recently about a nursery that grows maples and other cultivars. Some of the trees get potted first and planted that way, In the pot, in the spot where they will mature until sold. It helps prevent transplant shock.
They said it takes about 10 years to develop a new cultivar to the size for sale, and they are constantly breeding and grafting more and more dwarf and miniature trees that work better in the landscape bc they don't top 12 ft, instead of trees like a bald cypress, which can mature to 70 ft. tall. Oftentimes that will grow from a twig or even a leaf when they find an unusual color or some kind of different oddity that looks appealing and is hardy, and develop a new cultivar from that. It's fascinating AND labor intensive.

I had a very wealthy customer tell me when he went on vacation, for an entire summer, his $10,000 red maple had been stolen from his yard. He thought it was probably his gardener.
Wow! That is great... I really hope that I can buy one as well. That is my main goal!
