Crazy, I know for a fat that the pelts do not bring a very big price for the trappers and hunters that sell them, there is a RICH middle man somewhere.

I wonder if there is a market for the Hoary Marmot.

Seems like there should be, although as silly as they are, extinction would probably be right around the corner. Their best survival skills are probably deciding that dens should be under rock, the bigger the better. And, they can live on anything green so won't experiment with anything new for several seasons then, it becomes the salade du jour, overnight.

There is a Marmot brand of outerwear. I looked at the material list for a lady's coat: "Polyester Fur?!?" I doubt that it's necessary ... although having a fat ground squirrel wrapped around my neck has little appeal ...
