@Carol Dee , I'm so glad you stopped by! I want to say something selfish and maybe others will understand.

My grandmother died on Thanksgiving morning. Mom and I had just returned home from visiting her in the hospital in Sacramento, about 400 miles away. We couldn't celebrate Thanksgiving Day for several years after that.

When I was about 12, Mom's camera broke. I have one of the final pictures of me from that Brownie Box camera and you can tell that it is leaking light ;). There were no more pictures for about 5 years!

Recently, my cousin sent me a picture from when I visited her family in Idaho. I was 14. I had never seen a picture of me at that age. It challenged my memory to think back over 50 years and remember what I would see in the mirror ...

Be kind to yourself. We don't ever see ourselves as others see us but it would really be something if we could step back and try.

@Carol Dee , @Jeni Ann , @so lucky , @goatgurl , @Smiles Jr. and others have lost family. We all have. We won't and haven't always been the same as we are right here and now. Step back a little. Be kind to and understanding of that person. For all of us and for those around you there today and always.

Steve

@Carol Dee! What a great photo! I have a current newspaper clipping of a man in Canada that took in an orphaned moose and raised him in the barn with his horses. The picture shows this huge bull moose outfitted with his harness, No free lunch for adopted moose either, that bull had to earn his keep.

I would like to ditto Steves sentiments. Take care of your memories, write them down if you can. I started doing this recently and it does ease the ache a bit. We lost our dad a year ago today. I'm thankful for the man he was.
