Is there a chance that it is horseradish?

Possibly a kale of some kind but breaking and smelling a leaf should be a clue re: horseradish.

I'm leaning toward turnips. It looks like greens I'd cook and eat. Looks too small for collard greens.

May well be. It's difficult to see in the photo how long the leaves are.

I'm not hoping horseradish unless Manda_Rae is a real fan and it's in an out-of-the-way location.

i'd grow them every year if i could actually cook and eat them. in recent weeks i've been glad to be able to eat coleslaw. that's a welcome change from romaine lettuce. i put some Western dressing on there, a squirt of yellow mustard and some apple cider vinegar to tone down the sweetness of the red sauce. then peanuts or sunflower seeds.

THIS is horseradish. It could be turnips, although MY turnips are lighter in color.

Here is a volunteer turnip. I planted turnips here in 2020, They came up in 2021 and went to seed. I will have volunteers here for a LONG time bc the tiny sprouts are Also turnips. So, no, don't think it's a turnip, but I DO think it's a vegetable.

No, not horse radish

Maybe a type of kale? I just don't remember planting kale
