i found homeless report oddly encouraging

Last winter a conductor pulling into train station, stopped the train for 3 kittens on the tracks. He was called a hero, all week the kittens made the front page of the paper. A tiny article hidden in the middle of the paper stated that 4 homeless where killed on the tracks that winter, nohing ever written about them. Do we sometimes stop seeing homeless as people, when we see then everyday?

Our nearest city doesn't have any homeless people. I know that for a fact because our city leaders closed down the Harbor for the Homeless building saying it was not needed and it drew a "bad crowd" to the downtown area. Then they condemned and tore down the site a new Harbor was being established. It seems like every year I have to track down its current location. It is one of the local charities I support financially.
