Rotenone works well on squash bug nymphs, it is considered organic.

Squash bugs are going to be horrible this year, I have been squishing eggs for about a week now and a couple of days ago squished a couple of adults. Does neem oil kill the squash bugs (stink ones not vine borers) I don't need it yet, but forewarned is forearmed.
Thanks I'll look for it.
Don't use rotonone where it can drain into bodies of water. It is deadly to fish. It loses its potency pretty fast in sunlight but lasts a long time in water.

I agree that any pesticide is a last resort type of thing. I don't care if they are manmade, organic, or natural, they can all make something dead and need to be used with great caution.

I read somewhere to use coffee grounds around squash plants...my few plants, hidden in clumps of basil, are mulched deeply in coffee grounds in hopes I get some squash this year.

The bugs ARE horrendous! My baby orchard had a thick covering of kudzu beetles on all the new growth; lucky that the hens like to eat them. Potato bugs, squash bugs, slugs, beetles, all sorts of beasties are already numerous in my garden.

Rotenone seems to have passed into disfavor.

There's no possibility of runoff from my garden but . . .

I cannot find rotenone to purchase. In combination with pyrethrin, it used to be a 1st choice for fleabeetles and I've used it for squash bugs. It kills them.
