My MIL and I spotted a maroon and purple iris from her driveway in-between the immature pines in the field. She started digging yesterday and found a boat load of irises, day lilies, sedums, and these other flowers from bulbs that have small purple flowers. I'm not sure what it is but it sure is pretty. I'll get pictures once it stops raining. We also found a TON of canes. . . I think raspberry canes. I will be keeping an eye on those.

And then today, on my way over to the in-law's I spotted another iris from the road. I hurried over and told her about it. She saw it too and had already put the shovel in the car. We went down an access road next the field we saw it in. We walked around the trees to get to the field and JACKPOT!! More irises, daylilies, and daffodils. I have 2 irises that are blooming from that bunch on the side of the field.

Oh lucky you! Do you know any history of that area? Has your MIL seen them blooming before? It sounds like someone planted a garden there years ago, I'm just wondering why they choose that spot? I love to solve mysteries like that.

Wow... I was just wondering if there was like some great historical stories of the area and from which the flowers may have came?! :D

You know I honestly don't know the local history. I've only lived in this area for about 5 years.

The field in front of my in-law's property had parts of an old foundation and shingles that were buried. They only just moved out here a couple of months ago.

Good one.
Mine's pretty much played out I think. Unless you feel like digging up shrubs. Head toward Lawrenceville, follow the smell to the landfill, you can't miss it. :sick

There are a ton more irises along the tree line the one spot. If you are truly interested I can get you some.

Thanks. I think that I've got all I can handle right this moment. I'm still looking for a place to put all the Dump Iris that I got a little while ago.
You really should try to find out some history about that land. The county should be able to tell you who last lived there, I think.
