Too bad I didn't tie some thing on the flower so I can collect seed from it and keep the seed separate from my regular Purple and Pink Morning Glories!!

I love them too but can't grow a nice, pretty, full vine to save my life.
Yours are very pretty!

I love morning glories, but MAN are they invasive around here. Didn't stop me from planting Grandpa Ott (gorgeous rich purple) in my garden tho. :) Sometimes it's worth the pain.

@rebbetzin, beautiful morning glories! I love them as well. I have planted them with beans to make towers of color and veggies with great results. You can still try saving seed with flowers that haven't yet opened, but you will have to hand pollinate them and recover if you want to try getting seed true to the parent plant.

Yes, @curly_kate, morning glories can be very invasive and Grandpa Ott is one of the worst, although, most beautiful of the invasives. That beautiful sky blue variety often sold seems to have had the invasiveness bred out of them. I haven't been able to get them to re-establish themselves in the spring (probably GMO).

Beautiful! I've never seen that variety before. We bought some red morning glory seed in Ireland, but never got around to planting it. One day?

Those are beautiful! I like how it's not so uniform, but still balanced between the colors.

I'm a big fan of them too however I'm now having to pull Grandpa Ott plants out of my veggie garden compliments of my neighbor who had it reseeding itself on a section fence.

I have an envelope of what is probably Grandpa Ott lying on my desk. I got it as part of a packet of MG seeds from someone on ebay. The packet was SUPPOSED to be 'Kniola's Black Knight" but the flowers look a little bluer than that, so I suspect it Ott (I don't know which made me madder that year that I got a wrong seed, or that that wrong seed was the ONLY seed out of all the ones I bought from the guy that ACTUALLY grew). Not again for me, too hard to control (and remember I'm the guy who regularly handles plants from random Convuvulacae seeds I find in food, so "too difficult to control" is saying something for me.)

BTW for those who have given up on controlling their glories. I have a quick question. How long do your flowers actually keep their colors from generation to generation? I make a point of keeping my eye out for feral MG vines as we drive hither and thither, and I can't help noticing that, while the vines are quite common, in nearly all cases, the actual flowers are always white So either the white kind are unusually adept at living feral or a lot of MG's revert to white after a few generations.
