What do you think? I tried to find one on the internet but I only found one and it was $20 plus shipping so decided to make my own - cost was $6. :) I don't have a pantry, so I hung it in the only place that is somewhat cool and dark - the office. I still have to cut off the excess chain.

Ooh...that's nice! Bet it will look very pretty loaded up with all of your different herbs. :)

That will work great! I just heard a tip at the garden show I attended. One of the herb specialists claim that you can dry things by putting them in a paper bag, in the fridge for 7-10 days. He says it keeps the leaves green- for basil, lovage, mint, etc. I got groceries today- and asked for paper bags. So, I am ready to conduct the experiment. I love hanging my oregano and tarragon- what a joy to have those herbs through the winter! Enjoy your invention!

I am curious about that, Lesa. To be honest, it sounds like advice from someone who forgets what is in his fridge! Aaaand it reminds me of something I once said in front of a group of gardeners - worse advice I every gave. (Think I'll start a thread on that . . .)

Maybe the paper bag will work but I'm going with something like Joan has :)! It will add a lot to the pleasantness of her home, I am sure.

I agree, Steve- I love hanging most of my herbs...but I don't like that the basil and mint turns ugly, black. I am going to give it a try and see if it is true. Warning: Do Not Try This at Home- until I report back... and keep the string out of the compost pile!!!

:gig I'll be waiting on your report! I love the smell of dill. I'm going to cut rosemary and oregano tomorrow.
