This tree was a gift, from a man that visited us last week. I so hope this tree will take root and live!! I planted it in the back garden not far from the chicken coop. My hope is that the Tree will in a few years make some nice shade during the summer for the coop area.

Here is what it looks like now.

Looks good, i just wondered if you only wanted shade from the tree, since you'll need another persimmon tree for fruit.

This is a self fertile variety, although sometimes self fertile trees do a little better when there is a second tree for pollination it is not always the case.
Oh ok i thought fuyu persimmons needed another tree, thanks for clearing that up for me!! ;)

I thought about one since my neighbor suggested it... but since he's interested, I'll let him plant those, and I'll plant something else so we can just swap fruits later.

I really hope it bears fruit for you soon and its not too long a wait... maybe 2 years?! ;)

My Grandparents planted one of these trees many years ago. It is now a huge tree! Produces well. It is in So. California. In the area of Riverside-San Bernardino. This tree came from here in Tucson, so I hope it does well.
I just love this type of Persimmon!!
