I picked a few button head cauliflower today, threw them in the bowl saddened by the poor showing yet again. THEN!!!! I got a shock with 8 beauties in a row. I haven't had success in years. I bought seed recommended for the northeast and I think that was the answer. I have to look up the name and source. It was sooooo mild and delicious! No longer a cauliflower failure. My garden has enjoyed the long cool spring the these cool summer nights we keep having. Just the dukes are nit thriving.

At least 2 but, we are big veggie eaters. I will be freezing tons today.

Don't tempt me to try cauliflower again! I think I have eaten one from my garden- and tried growing 8 times! That is a beauty!

There are 3 reasons I theorize my success after many years since I had too many to eat. I gave up a few years running. I saw a variety labeled for the Northeast. I think it was zone appropriate, I put big plants in very early, and our spring was long and cool. We still are having cool nights. Our peas should be gone by and they are still thriving.

That is some pretty cauliflower! I have to grow mine through the winter, it's too hot here for spring planting. It's so good no matter how you cook it!

I think I'm going to have to give up on cauliflower myself... it either gets too hot too quickly here, or too cold. Cauliflower seems to be real picky about weather and the climate here is just too extreme for it.
I can remember harvesting 2 and 3 pound cauliflowers when I gardened in the San Jose area of CA though. Lordy, were they good!
