i was reading up on using ash in the garden last week since i just took the pail out so i could have more space in it for another cleaning of the stove. it seems there are very few veggies that really appreciate the ash and alkaline soil it creates, that would be asparagus. so i'm prepping the asparagus bed and adding that ash in abundance since i know they will enjoy it heartily.
