hi all, I found this forum when i ran a Google search for the Ijevan Purple King bean. Got seeds at the Heirloom Festival last year, planted them & they're doing GREAT. But the packet they came in had no information at all, I can see they're a shelling bean from the posts on this site, but what about fresh eating or canning? Any insights appreciated!

What is that black thing in your garden in the last pic...is it a smoker? an old wood burner used to heat a small barn that someone gave to us. purely decorational or i should say it is often a home to hornets/wasps/etc.

i don't think so. the four beans in that picture had fairly small seeds, but those pods are very good eating when picked young. i don't have any information about ljevan Purple King.
