Do you ever let a perfectly gorgeous gardening day go by without lifting a hoe, just because you feel lazy, or are cranky, or your back hurts? I know full well that being outside and active is a cure for all that bothers you, but sometimes I just don't want to. Maybe I just want to wallow in misery inside? Do I need a kick in the pants, or a Prozac? (or both?)

Yeah.

I have said on here that if living things aren't going to suffer from me doing nothing. I won't work. It has a real large measure of truth.

So, I have set myself up for allowing living things to suffer and then I've got all the anxiety and motivation I need!!!

I mean, whaddya gonna do?! The poor dears!

Yes, even at my worst, I always have time and energy to take care of my chickens.

Where I was raised only after the animals were fed, watered and bedded down did we sit down at the supper table.

Hey.

You can apply the same thinking to plants.

Certainly, you can apply it to family.

Better apply it to yourself.

Usually I retreat to the garden when I am not in the mood to do housework. :p If I am stressed or in a bad mood and don't know what else to do with myself, I like to go pull weeds. I like the orderly feeling I get after clearing them out. It makes the rest of my day feel a little more sane.

Occasionally I have trouble getting started on something in the garden if I feel like it is too big and I don't know where to start. Are you maybe feeling overwhelmed by how much you have to do out there right now?

All else fails, you could go scratch a few wildflower seeds into the dirt. They will come up and mostly take care of themselves and give you some cheerful color to enjoy later. :)
