In my great grandmother’s time, everyone had a kitchen garden. My grandmother usually had a small garden. My Daddy always had a garden, he fed us, plus neighbors and people at church. I garden. There have been times in my life when I did not have a garden, but I had friends or family who shared.

I am appalled at the waste of space, downright laziness, and apathy of the majority of people. They “work” and don’t have time. That doesn’t fly with me. My Daddy also worked, I worked, yet we made time to plant, care for and harvest to provide for ourselves and others.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but people have yards where they could plant SOMETHING!

I live in a very rural area, but I always thought that people in villages should band together...one plants corn, another beans, etc. This way nobody has to tend a full garden and everyone would get a share and be fed good produce.
