Looked your original post over again. If they are really short but pollinated up 2-3" then nothing (look like a can) that is what you got. It is caused by cold nights.

wish I had picture. Lot of rain will also cool the plants off causing problems.

My peaches&cream corn is over 8' high at this point, and producing lots of ears. I pulled an ear last night to see how it looked , as the silks had appeared to have dryed somewhat. Too soon, as it turns out. The kernels were still small, and mostly green. The cob looked good though, with full pollination the length of it, (about 11" long) and no signs of pests.

My problem this year is the drought conditions we have had since the beginning of June. Being on well water I can't get to carried away in the watering department, or we may go dry. It's frustrating.

What are the symptoms of not enough water and corn?

Who said we live on the Wet Coast?? :)

too little water symptoms

1) firing of lower leaves

2) ear will pinch back. pollinated but will not fill all the kernals, usually starts pinching back at tips and works it's way to butt.

3) Shallow kernals.

4) Dents earlier, so will go out of eating stage quicker.
