OK y'all ready for this?

#1 My new flat holder box ready for some kind of clear cover.

#2 Bending and fitting the hoops onto the hoop holder frame.

#3 Hoops in place, clear plastic ends in place, empty flat sitting in the holder box.

#4 The almost finished product. All I need now is some clear plastic wrap to staple to the little wood frame, up and over the hoops, and stapled to the other side of the frame.

I only spent an hour in the shop this morning. Brrrrr! I stumbled across a piece of 1/8" thick clear plexiglass to make the end pieces and I used some 1/8" aluminum welding rod for the two hoops. The hoop frame lifts off of the holder box to allow me to place and remove the flat. I'm not sure at this point if I will have to glue the clear plastic film to the hoops and end pieces. I may be able to just pull it tight and pop some staples in the wood frame. We'll see.

Now all you need is a .99 clear plastic shower curtain from Dollar General.

That is really cool.

When I was out in one of the barns last night I discovered a few scraps of storm window plastic film so I put it on my little seed starter hoop house. Watcha think? If this works out OK I might make a few more of them. But like all of my little inventions around here, I'll be looking for storage space for the off season. Then my gadgets become clutter. Then my clutter becomes trash.

Never mind clutter or trash, you should make those in bulk and sell them!

Looks great!! :thumbsup
Wha'cha growin' in that little hoop house?
Let's see . . . 9 heirloom Brandywine tomato plants, 9 heirloom German Johnson tomatoes, 9 Black Krim heirloom tomatoes, 9 Mortgage Lifter heirlooms, 18 heirloom Roma tomatoes, 9 eggplants, 9 Jalapeno peppers, 9 Habaneros, and I think that's all. Actually there are twice the number of seedlings as indicated above but I'll cull to half of them eventually.

I have three other flats with many kinds of lettuce, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and beets.

Everything seems to be growing just fine. But I'm worried that I may have started too early. I don't think I have 100 pots to put these plants in if the weather does not cooperate. We'll see.

I am confident you'll find 100 pots if needed...old shoes, paper cups, milk cartons, coffee filters wrapped with duct tape, maybe even newspaper shaped into a cup wrapped with duct tape. Heck, with your talent, you'd do better than my method of fixing anything with duct tape. (I keep a wide roll of duct tape in my car for when my upper radiator hose gives out...which may be at any time according to the mechanics).

. . . paper cups . . .
Yes! We do have a stack of Red Solo Cups and a pile of coffee filters somewhere around here. Whew! I'm saved from total destruction, Batman.

ETA: Oops - I mean Neanderthal Batman.
