Hey calling VFEM .... calling VFEM... here is your strawberry solution..

I studied the pics and I think that they have either a soaker hose or another hard but smaller PVC with holes that runs up and down the length for watering..

I am going to make one of these.... then I am going to either do rain gutter or PVC along the fence..

But i am learning that lettuce is a "cold" weather crop.. can I plant it in the warm weather too? would I just have to harvest the little plants?

If you can plant your lettuce some place in a fairly shady area it will grow all summer. I had lettuce from May thru Nov. last year. Never bought a bit in all that time!
We looked at gutter today and I am not convinced it's deep enough. I may try some just as an experiment though.... :)

I heard about some greenhouse CSA gardeners using rain gutter. It IS deep enough for greens :)

This is a great idea! I have got a piece of drain pipe 12" diameter and at least 10' long that I have pack ratted for a while because I knew it would come in handy someday. Securing it to my garden fence posts is going to be a trick 'tho.
Thanks for the picture setter4. I couldn't get my mind wrapped around how it worked until I saw it.
How awesome would it be to plant draping plants in, like creeping jenny so they just hang over the pipe and create a curtain to cover the fence!!!??

This is an awesome idea. I just fear the wrath of my husband if I even SUGGEST another project. :D Wait, no I don't! LMAO

LOL... oops... totally missed this!

It would be AWESOME for my strawberries... but I am lacking much fencing space. And I kinda convinced hubby to build another bed yesterday! Hehehehe

Only problem is that pvc pipe leaks lead as it is used to process it. The gutter would probobly work. I have an old chicken feeder that i can use as another raised bed!! Thanks for reminding me of that!
