Last night I rented Big eyes movie about artist Walter Keane. Any one alive in the 60s knows his work, he painted sad children with big eyes. As a kid I had his pound puppies on my wall.Prints of his painting broke sales records. It was all a fraud he couldn't paint, they where all done by his wife. He told her no one would buy art from a woman, so he took all credit for her work. Marget Keane is still alive and painting today. Good movie made me realize that as late as the 60s sexual discrimination was still going strong.

i remember hearing about that movie some time ago and found it interesting that a woman would have allowed her husband to do that to her during the 60's. but then again i remember my mother telling me how my grandfather in the 60's told her 'women don't go to college'. another generations goes by and my sister and i both have gone to college with 2 year degrees.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

In America, prior to WW2, it would seem that a woman had a choice of 3 careers in life: nurse, teacher or Indian chief.

Eli Whitney. And amazingly enough I must have been paying attention in grade school when we studied that.

My mind is quirky and fickle sometimes, refusing to give up a word or a name when I try to grab it, but that name floated right into focus.
ha!
