We're ok, lost power this morning and then lost internet. The power came back in an hour, but was without internet all day. More then 1/2 my tomatoes were ripped out though and even the huge bamboo posts I've had out their for years got ripped out. So a bit bummed over my garden. We did have gusts up to 60 mph this morning. :(
Our power was out for about 16 hours, but we have a generator & butane stove so we were okay. The worst damage was a section of our fence got knocked down, but that should be easy to fix.

As for the garden...My pepper plants are a little tipped over, but the peppers stayed attached! My 'maters were on the way out anyway, so I'm not too concerned about them. Carrots are fine, beans look okay. Coulda been a lot worse! :D

Sorry about your garden, vfem. :(

It's ok girl... I looked this morning and though the tomatoes were all over, tomatoes still attached and they weren't ripped out of the ground. Only lost 1 pepper plant. So saveable! HOORAY!!!

Anyways, we did lose power this morning for some reason, just came back on 20 minutes ago... and we're running to the airport quick quick now! :D Gotta pick up Nana!!!

You be safe!

My garden wasn't too bad with Irene. I had some tomato plants that fell to the ground and some of my pole beans were blown to the other side of the trellis. It could of been a lot worse I could imagine. We don't get hurricanes here that often. I did put of my potted plants in the garage before the storm hit didn't want to risk losing them. I was worried that some of my vegetable trellis like my cucumbers would of came down but I did get them tied just in case, and they were fine.

Hope everyone's gardens weren't damaged too much!! :fl

We are on day 3 with no power. Came to work today because they do have power which gave me no real excuse to stay home. ;) We do have a generator to keep the fridge and the chest freezer going. Had to go to one of the local ponds to get some water for the cows and chickens. And I will say, that my dog seems to think pond water is a special treat. He has fresh water in the house, but runs right over to the cows water and starts drinking away! What's left of the garden faired well. A few green tomatoes on the ground, but no big deal. They say our power should be back by Thursday at the latest, but I'm really hoping I return home tonight from work to radio blaring and lights on! Hope everyone else fared equally as well.

WE were lucky...some tomatoes on the ground and tops of plants bent over at tie off point on stakes...lots of tree leaves down...few small branches...
what I want to know is what has happened to our Vermont, New Jersey, other New Hampshire and New York friends????
