Is anyone else concerned about the effect of the battery fire in Northern California on produce sold in grocery stores nationwide?

I suppose I should not complain about water costs when I'm growing some of my veggies. Compared to what you all have just pointed out. We run about $200 a month for water on our property in the summer. It used to rain here but no longer...

can you put in a shallow well?

we have a lot of ground water here and really i should look into just doing a shallow well which could also capture some of the water from the large ditches that run through our property and then use that for watering the gardens instead of drawing off the main deeper well. a few solar panels and a trickle pump and big tank up high which could also act as a small power generator during times of need. capturing rainwater would also be nice as that is pretty clean water and not as full of iron and calcium as our ground water.
